Funding Pathways
We know therapy is an investment for families. The good news is there are a few different ways you may be able to reduce the cost or access rebates. Most families use one (or a mix) of:
-
Medicare
-
Private health insurance
-
NDIS
-
or private payment
If you’re not sure what applies to you — we’re always happy to talk it through.
Medicare rebates
You may be able to get a referral from your GP called a Care Plan (previously called a Team Care Plan). This can give you:
-
up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year
-
a rebate of $61.80 per session (2025 rate)
Simply ask your GP if your child is eligible and bring the referral to us. Easy and very common for families to use.
Private health funds
If you have extras cover, your private health insurance may provide rebates for speech pathology. Every fund is different, so it’s best to check:
-
how much you can claim
-
how many sessions are covered
-
and your annual limits
You can claim using these item numbers:
-
Assessment (60–90 mins): 320
-
Longer assessment: 330
-
Therapy sessions: 340
We provide invoices with everything you need to claim.
NDIS
The NDIS supports children who have developmental differences or disabilities that impact everyday life. If your child has a NDIS plan, funding can usually be used for:
-
assessments
-
speech therapy
-
feeding therapy
-
early intervention programs
-
parent coaching
-
reports for plan reviews
At The Soundmill Centre, we work with:
-
NDIS self-managed families
-
NDIS plan-managed families
We follow NDIS pricing guidelines and can send invoices directly to you or your plan manager.
We can also provide progress reports to support your child’s plan reviews.
To learn more or apply, visit the NDIS website or call 1800 800 110.
